Don & Christine Ames

Serving the Lord with our Hearts and Hands

Don began an electrical apprenticeship within months of leaving High School in 1973. He then worked for a couple of different electrical contractors, worked in a machine shop for a winter and as a maintenance electrician at a large meat packing house. He spent a few years installing and servicing alarm systems and worked for a time with his dad building greenhouses and solar additions. He began his own business as an electrical contractor in 1980. During his 16 years in business Don also did some general contracting. We built our own house on three acres of wooded land in PA from 1983 through 1996.

Christine had several jobs from data entry to computer programming to retail sales and management both in women's clothing and restaurants. She worked for a time as an executive secretary for a bank holding company and she has filled in as a temp worker through several Manpower offices over the years. On several occasions she would start at the bottom and quickly work her way up to management as those around her observed her determination, and intellect. Christine is also fluent in French and has picked up some Creole and Spanish.

In 1996 we sold our house and Don's business and went to work full time for the Lord. We spent from 1996 through 2000 at CMTS Ministries in PA before going on the road in our current ministry. In 1998 we took a nine month leave from CMTS to further our education at the Word of Life Bible Institute in Hudson, FL. Don graduated with honors and Christine with the highest honor. Please pray for wisdom, guidance, and provision, as we continue to serve the Lord wherever He sends us.

This picture shows Don in Afghanistan struggling with the lesson God has been trying to teach us. It is not about the work, it is about the relationships. It has been said that the most important things are not things.
